C and P were so much fun to photograph at Bloom Portraits! Photographing siblings can be difficult. They usually enjoy being photographed together, but when it’s time for individual photos, things can become a struggle. Kids usually love being the center of attention, and when one sibling is getting more attention than the other, they take notice.

It’s perfectly normal to have power struggles between kids in photo shoot, so I was plesantly surprised when big brother C was such a big help in getting little sister P to smile! Big brother C was my little helper during P’s individual photos. It didn’t matter how silly mom and I were, P would only smile for C. C was a great helper with making his sister smile and didn’t get bothered that he was not the center of attention. What a great relationship these two have!

Miss O and Miss A came in for a photo shoot at Bloom Portraits. Before heading into the studio, I had a chance to sit down and talk with Miss O and Miss A. Miss A was much more outspoken, and Miss O was the more reserved sister. This tends to be a good combination when it comes to siblings because they aren’t always fighting for attention.

It’s funny what happens when kids get in front of a camera. When we got into the studio, it was as if their personalities changed; Miss O was all smiles and Miss A needed a moment to take in the situation. We had a great time in the studio! Next time we will have to bring in the fan for these super models!

E was all smiles from the second she walked in the door! Well, I guess I should not say “walk” as much as “carried”, but she was ready. Before starting a baby photo shoot, I like to get an idea of how strong the baby is. This way I can get a better idea of which furniture to use and what poses will work best. E’s mom and I chatted for a minute, then we went to the studio.

E started off great, sitting just like I posed her; then she decided to show off a bit and prove to me how strong she was. 6 month old E decided she wanted to stand and that is just what she did! I could tell she was strong, but I must admit, I was a bit surprised when she almost started walking. I will not be surprised if E walks in all on her own next time I see her! Way to go E!

Mother’s Day is a special time, especially at Bloom Portraits!

This once a year opportunity is a chance to have Mommy join in the photo shoot fun. This year’s Mother’s Day theme is more classic than years past. This is a great opportunity to get great photos of Mommy and the kids. If Grandma is in town, include her in the session for photos that show off all 3 generations!

J came in to see me at Bloom Portraits to get some newborn photos taken. Newborns can be a struggle to photograph because they are very needy; J’s mom was very happy when J slept through the entire shoot.

Newborns are easiest to photograph when they are sleeping. To aid in sleep at Bloom, we have installed ceiling heaters in our studio, which are great for newborns. J was a little fussy when he was getting changed, but when we put him under that heater, he was out.

It was ladies day in celebration of E’s 4th birthday! E and Mom dropped Dad off at the airport, then sped over to Bloom Portraits for a photo shoot to start ladies day off right.
